Were you aware next week is National Flood Risk Awareness Week!! Not sure anyone really is but us geeky flood engineering types obviously are.

The timing is significant as it is 10 years since the great autumn floods of 2000. I can remember walking the dog into Durham and watching people swim in the Royal County Swimming Pool at a lower level than the River Wear which was lapping up against the windows!

As part of this campaign, M Design are offering a 5% discount on any flood risk assessment appointment received between the 1st and 5th November 2010. M Design carry out the full range of flood risk assessments from basic surface water runoff assessments, Code for Sustainable Homes surface water evaluations, storage and attenuation designs including Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems as well as detailed river modeling. This has been particularly valuable to several of our clients whose sites were taken out of the Environment Agency flood zones following modeling works. This has increased the developable areas of the site and obviously the value!
